Peter Li ’02 Uses IRA Beneficiary Designation to Ensure a Bright Future for His “Heaven on Earth”
Peter Li ’02 grew up in China in the 1980s at a time when the country was among the poorest in the world. So, when he got the opportunity to come to CA, it was as if a giant door had opened, introducing him to countless new opportunities. CA changed Peter’s life, which is why he contributes regularly and has made Concord Academy part of his estate plan by naming CA as a beneficiary of his IRA.
“If there were a heaven on Earth for some kid from China, it would look like CA,” says Peter from his home in New York City.
CA gave Peter an undying love of learning. “I can and I should learn something new today,” Peter tells himself, tracing that directly to his CA experience.
Since graduating, Peter has remained in touch with CA, serving on the Alum Annual Fund Committee and as an Alum of Color Mentor. He has attended milestone reunions and regional events in New York and London. He has also remained in touch with faculty members whose guidance meant so much.
Peter hopes his gift will give future students the same opportunities that he enjoyed. He urges fellow alums to remember the “unnamed heroes” who made such an impact on their lives. “CA is my wishing well,” Peter says. “How can I not contribute.”
