For Trip Smith ’08, Concord Academy is more than just an alma mater—it is a cherished thread, woven through his family’s history. From his grandmother (Class of ’36) to his aunt (Class of ’71) and sister (Class of ’05), the spirit of CA has resonated across generations.
Whether he was competing on the varsity tennis courts, singing in choir, or serving on the Discipline Committee, Trip felt a sense of belonging and support that shaped the confident professional he is today.
By including CA in his revocable trust, he is honoring both his family’s tradition of giving and the school that launched him into his career.
Trip appreciates the flexibility of the trust structure, noting that it allows alums to make a profound impact while leaving room to add other gifts—like life-income plans or IRA rollovers—later in life.
“Regardless of your age—no matter how young or old you are—if you don’t yet have an estate plan, I strongly suggest you make one (for a whole host of reasons other than charitable giving),” Trip says.
“We know the true cost of a Concord Academy education is far more than tuition alone,” Trip reflects. “It’s our turn to pay it forward.”
